1:15pm - Equine Nutrition

Equine Nutritionist Ken Wilkinson was born and raised in Manitoba, graduating from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. His experience with horse nutrition started many years ago when he had the privilege of working with the nutritionists that fed Northern Dancer and Najinsky through Windfield Farms, a great learning experience.

For the last 9 years Ken has specialized in horse nutrition with Otter Co-op. At Otter Co-op he has had the privilege of working with Dr. Stephen Duren of Performance Horse Nutrition as a consultant. A member of various professional organizations such as The Society of Animal Science and The Equine Science Society, Ken and his wife are also active riders.

His current horse has been with him since he was 3 months old. He is now going on twenty. He is an Arabian, a good trail horse and was even a decent team roping horse. To quote President Obama, “Yes you can” keep an Arab calm if you feed him right and treat him right!
