2:30pm - The a Art of Communication: Teaching Horse Owners Equine Language
After spending much of my time training “problem” horses I've realized most issues arise from the lack of communication.I will teach you to bridge this barrier by introducing you to Equine Language. The skill to communicate is paramount; open this door and be amazed at the limitless possibilities!
This Southern Manitoba native has been working with horses for 20 years. Daryl Gibb learned his skills from some of the best horsemen in the world in California. "But the fact is," he says, "is that what we do requires no special insight into the horse psyche."
"Anyone can do this. The horses know it all before we teach them." The focus of the clinics is to bridge that crucial gap between horse and rider, laying a solid foundation that will be the cornerstone for the duration of their relationship, based on respect and trust.
"We are predators to them and this presents a barrier that time and trust, not speed and force, can overcome. Horses need to be able to trust that no harm will come to them in our presence," explains Daryl on the training process. "Everything a horse does is real. There is no expert method in developing a natural feel with horses. With a lot of time and persistence, I've come to realize this and accept that most of our struggles with horses are similar to the struggles we have with other people."
A key factor in Daryl's clinics is making sure owners go away with the skills needed to maintain a healthy relationship with their horses.
"I try to make it as much hands on as possible," he says, adding "the skills owners learn can be used over the entire course of the horse/owner relationship".
