Healthy Horse Expo Learn more

small logo

It is amazing what can arise out of small talk outside a barn.  When Alexa Linton, Equine Sport Therapist and Laurie Joslin, her client and Natural Hoof Trimmer, first discussed the idea of organizing an event dedicated to complementary therapy for horses, they were thinking small. The Healthy Horse Expo, in its 2006 debut, grew into an event with over 50 booths of complimentary wellness practitioners and vendors dedicated to equine wellness, presentation areas showcasing some of the best in the industry, as well as a classroom setting to provide further opportunities for education. It was also the first ever event in Western Canada completely dedicated to Equine and Animal Wellness. Our beautiful 5-horse logo was created for the Expo by Victoria artist and avid horsewomen Carol Lewis. This year the Healthy Horse Expo is back and bigger than ever, with a renewed volunteer committee made up of returning members Alexa Linton, Bev Marley and Carol Lewis, and dedicated newcomers Julene Warwick, Trish Graham and Nora Robinson.

Meet our "Mares"

A committee of dedicated horsewoman from Vancouver Island, BC, who have volunteered their time and energy to make this upcoming event a success.

Alexa Linton, Exhibitor/Volunteer Co-ordinator

Alexa has been passionate about healthy animals for many years, and even more so now as an Equine Sport Therapist, Reiki Practitioner, Kinesiologist and of course, a horse owner. She is very happy to be a part of such a wonderful event and such a great group of dedicated volunteers.

Julene Warwick - Advertising Co-ordinator/Treasurer

Julene is a lifelong horse lover with a passion for learning all things equine. The first time her mother developed cancer, Julene started on a quest into alternative health care that carried over into how she cares for her horse Leader. Her involvement in the expo is in support of all horse people to learn more about the healthy choices available to their horses and themselves.

Trish Graham, Media Liason

A very recent addition to the Island horse community, Trish joined the Healthy Horse Expo mares to get in touch with horses and horse health on the West Coast. She is a wonderful addition to our team!

Our Healthy Horse Mission Statement
Our mission is to create inspired events, organized and run by our non-profit group of health conscious volunteers, who are deeply committed to equine health.
Our intention is to educate the community, nurture investigation and understanding, advocate for the sanctioned integration of equine care practices and explore the potential of credible standardization for the continuance of whole horse health, in mind, body and spirit.

The founding members of the Healthy Horse Expo are striving towards:

  1. Creating an environment which nurtures investigation into all forms of equine care.
  2. Creating educational environments for the public, encompassing all the integrated services available for their horses health.
  3. Educating practitioners as they work toward creating a cooperative community.
  4. Becoming an advocate, speaking for the well being and respect of the horse, to motivate horse enthusiasts to make the safest and healthiest     choices for their horses.
  5. Actively working toward the creation of credibility standards for non-veterinarian equine practitioners.
  6. The redirection of all funds surplus of operating costs toward the pursuit of whole horse health education and practises.
